Second sunday

I’ve been a vegetarian for two weeks now, and I feel great!

Today I woke up around 5 PM, again, I should really fix my sleeping pattern. I watched another 11ish episodes of Death Note and I’m pretty sure I’m going to finish it tomorrow or the day after that. After finishing DN I’m not sure what to watch next, I’ve got a few shows in mind though; I was thinking of rewatching Archer, a new season is said to be released around the spring of 2020, which is still very far away but again, Archer does have 10 longish seasons. I was also thinking of starting to watch Steven Universe, it’s looking to be gaining a lot of popularity online and it’s said to fall right for fans of Gravity Falls; which I am a part of. A couple of shows I’ve added to my list on Netflix are: Full metal alchemist, Cooking on High, and Money Heist; so I may also start watching some of them. I’ve also added The End of the F***cking World to my list, I began watching it a loooong time ago but I wasn’t quite sure if I liked it and just stopped watching it, so there’s a slight possibility that I might continue watching that.

On to the diet; My breakfast/lunch for today was a wrap made by my dad, the filling contained pieces of that vegetarian chicken substitute I’ve mentioned multiple times by now, some scrambled eggs I believe and some spaghetti. There were also probably some other things but I am not quite sure what’s what.

Before my dinner I ate some pieces of honeydew and an apple. For dinner I made myself a bowl of rice with a fried egg on top. Some of the rice was mixed with scrambled egg beforehand and on top I added 2 tablespoons of soy sauce, which I mixed thoroughly into the dish. You may recall me having written about eating a similar dish about a week ago.

It’s pretty late now, as usual, so I’m going off to bed. I was hoping of going to the gym tomorrow but, knowing my sleeping schedule I’m pretty sure the gym’s already long-closed when I wake up. Also I’ve got plans to hang out with a friend tomorrow.

2nd week done

After a short night, I woke up at 11 O’clock. I came downstair with no one home besides my younger brother, my parents were bringing my sister to the airport.

For breakfast I just ate some toast with cheese and drank some coffee. For Lunch my mom went to the supermarket to get some croissants and some other groceries. So for lunch I put some strawberry jam on my croissant and drank some more coffee. I am aware I drink way too much coffee for my age but I really need the caffeine and it just tastes great.

For dinner me and my dad made some pancakes. Normally I prefer my pancakes with bacon but I obviously couldn’t get that. So I baked cheese into my pancake and put some pancake syrup onto of it. After a couple of pancakes, I went to take a shower and continued my Netflix marathon of the passed week.

Well I hope I can gather enough discipline tomorrow to go the gym, probably not. Anyway I am going to get some more sleep, which also probably won’t happen.

Daan: Breakfast; Sandwich with Vegetable Omelet

Ingredients for 2 persons

½ tbsp of olive oil
75 g of soup vegetables
2 eggs
4 slices of bread

instructions
1. Heat the oil in a frying pan and fry the vegetables for 5 minutes over medium heat. Season with pepper.
2. Meanwhile, beat the eggs and pour over the vegetables. Put the lid on the pan and let it cook over low heat for 5 minutes. Remove the omelet from the pan and cut into quarters.
3. Divide the omelet over half of the slices of bread and cover with the rest of the bread.

Lunch: Muesli with apple

Ingredients for 1 person

1 apple
1 tbsp Muesli
1 tbsp freshly squeezed orange juice
1 tbsp lemon juice
1 teaspoon Honey
1 dl yogurt.

Preparation method

  1. Pour the fruit juices over the musli.
  2. Cut the apple into small pieces.
  3. Add the apple with the honey and the
    yogurt by the musli.

Dinner: Pasta with pesto

Ingredients for 4 people

400-500 gr pasta or tortellini
1 zucchini
1 jar of ready-made pesto
6-8 sun-dried tomatoes
1 onion
3 garlic cloves
cube of Parmesan cheese (approx. 150 gr)
75 gr pine nuts
pepper

Instructions
1. Roast the pine nuts in a dry pan.
2. Cut the onion into small pieces.
3. Wash and cut the zucchini into half slices.
4. Cut the Parmesan cheese into thin slices.
5. Wash the tomatoes and cut into thin strips.
6. Fry the onion in the oil and squeeze the garlic above it.
7. Add the zucchini and tomatoes.
8. Meanwhile, cook the pasta according to the package.
9. Add the pesto to the zucchini mixture and stir well.
10. Add the pasta and sprinkle the pepper, Parmesan cheese and pine nuts over it.

Day 14

I am already eating vegetarian for 2 weeks now and I still have a few more days to go. For breakfast I had a croissant and a self-baked little bread, I don’t now how it is called exactly. I also drank some coffee with it.

For lunch I made myself a tosti with cheese, I really wanted to put some ham on it as well because I usually do that, but for this time I only did cheese on it of course.

Furthermore, I played some games on my computer with some friends and I practiced on my guitar a little but I am really bad in that. For dinner we had those ready-made meal salads again. I really notice that I am eating a lot of vegetables and healthy stuff since I am doing this vegetarian challenge. Being vegetarian is very healthy for you so you guys should definitely try it for a few days, and maybe after that you want to stay vegetarian for the rest of your life. That is way healthy than all that meat.

27 July

I am so sorry I haven’t been able to post any updates, I have been ill for the passed 5 days and the weather was not helping either. In the passed 5 days, I only slept twice for like 4 hours. The day before yesterday it was the hottest day in the Netherlands ever recorded. Luckily I am physically feeling a lot better so I am trying not to miss another day.

So far I still haven’t eaten any meat, it is still going by fairly easy. For breakfast my father made me some scrambled eggs and some coffee.

For lunch I didn’t really eat anything since I was watching Netflix the entire day and kind of forgot about time. I am halfway season 2 of stranger things now, and it really is a quite a good series.

For dinner my parents made quite a good meal. We ate vegetarian pasta salad with Italian bread, a baguette and some Benedict eggs. It all tasted really amazing.

In the evening I was hanging out with some friends, and found out not all beer is vegetarian, which really surprised me. Apparently some beer brands use a none vegetarian product to make its shelf life longer. After everyone left I played some video games with one of my friends and went to bed.

Day 13

Today I woke up at 6:00 AM, I was tired because I only got around to have 6 hours of sleep. I prepared for work and headed out. When I stepped into the outside it was the first time this week that I didn’t immediately spontaneously combust because of the intense heat. Now, after saying that you might find me to be a wuss but thursday was literally the hottest day ever recorded in the Netherlands, so shut it.

After 7 hours of work I returned home. For lunch my dad made me this vegetarian -duh- dish consisting off french fries, that vegetarian soy chicken substitute I had recently, and mushrooms. Topped off with a great tasting sauce made with heavy whipping cream, mustard, and a hint of marmite.

After that I went up to my room and fell asleep. When I awoke -8 hours later- I did some work and began watching Death Note. I tried it once before but immediately turned it off after 3 minutes because I wasn’t in the mood to watch it. But today, 2 years later I binge watched the first 14 episodes and that caused me to go to bed at 4 AM. I really like it. I ain’t no weeaboo though lmao.

My dinner was a mixture of honeydew and watermelon. It’s around 4 AM now and I’m going to brush my teeth and head off to bed.

Day 13

I had to wake up early today because I had to be at my work at 9 AM. After I got up I quickly made myself some breakfast, I had some bread with cheese and I made myself some toast and putted chocolate pasta on it. For lunch I brought some bread with me to work.

It was finally a bit colder after three days of extreme heat, but it was still at around 30 degrees, and that is still pretty warm actually. 

After I got back from work at 5 o’clock we had dinner, my mother made a dish with rice, some sauce or curry and vegetables in it. I don’t what it is called but it was still very tasty. 

Being vegetarian still goes easily bit sometimes I do start to crave for meat when for example the other of my family are eating it while dinner, but I can still handle it without meat.

Day 12

Today I woke up early just so that I could get to my local usps office and retrieve a package in time, but of course they had to be closed during the summer vacation. So that’s a bummer. Also it was like 38 degrees outside so that wasn’t fun either.

My breakfast was a smoothie consisting of blueberries, a banana and some milk, it tasted alright. Today I didn’t really do anything next to some school- and other work. Since Stranger Things has ended for now I just ended up watching a lot of youtube videos; Mostly videos by penguinz0.

I still haven’t really had any craving(s) for meat so I think I’m doing fine. I also try to be extremely alert on the things I’m consuming because some foods contain small non-vegetarian substances like the enzymes found in parmesan cheese.

I skipped lunch and for dinner I made myself a wrap consisting of some leftovers from yesterday.

It’s 22:32 PM at the moment and since I’ve got to wake up at 6 tomorrow for work I’m heading off to bed now.

Friday

Woke up at around 9 AM today. For breakfast I had some bread with chocolate pasta on it. For lunch I had cornflakes with milk. 

Also today the temperature rose to an extreme height so I decided to go to a nearby swimming park with a friend of mine. We stayed there for a few hours and after that we decided to go to the McDonalds for dinner. At the McDonalds they now also have vegetarian burgers and I ordered one of those and they didn’t disappoint me. They tasted just like a normal hamburger so I suggest other vegetarians to also try these burgers, it is also nice that people who don’t eat meat can now still enjoy eating delicious burgers at a fast food restaurant.

After McDonalds I went back home, at was around 7 o’clock when I came home. I watched some more Netflix this evening and now I am going get some sleep, bye.

Finished Stranger Things

Today I woke up at 2 PM, being only mildly well rested because of the intense heat.

I watched 2 episodes of Stranger Things and when I finally arrived at the season finale I was struck by the time; I had work in 25 minutes. So, I geared up and went off to work.

Just after work I got called up by a friend of mine who invited me to hang out. Since saying no cause I wanted to watch Stranger Things wasn’t really a valid reason I decided to go anyway. It was fun; we went to get some icecream and afterwards we watched Ted at my house.

After they left, I decided that it was time to end it -talking about Stranger Things, not my life. So that’s what I did.

The finale was great; I liked how the plot seperated the storyline into 3 groups. I found it sad how Billy died, likewise I would also be completely devistated by the death of Jim Wopper in that tragic explosion but there’s just no way he’s actually dead. I know that it seemed like literally everyone standing even remotely close to the machine got obliterated and the last we saw of Jim was him standing literally inches from the machine before it exploded but there’s just no way he could’ve actually died there. If Jim would’ve actually died in that scene they would’ve milked the HELL out of his death, they didn’t even show a corpse and Joyce and Murray had to quickly run out of there because the Russians were chasing them, so they didn’t even have the chance to look around.

I’m hyped for season 4, too bad it comes out in 2020.

I, again, didn’t have a breakfast but for dinner my dad made me a dish containing a chicken substitute which actually did kind off taste like teriyaki chicken, I liked it.

I also watched the semi-finale of Archer today and am very excited to watch the other half coming out next week thursday.

Oh yeah and Eleven and Mike did get back together!
