Sunday Funday

Today I woke up at around 2 PM, somehow already tired; I should really try to fix my sleeping patterns. I had nothing planned for today so I just sat behind my computer most of the day. I’d heard in the past that people were getting super syked about a netflix-show called Stranger Things -which was recommended to me multiple times but since its popularity and me not liking mainstream things I just figured not to bother watching it. Later I was looking around on polaroidoriginals’ website and I found a limited edition polaroid camera themed after the show, it seemed like something I’d love to have if I actually was a genuine fan of the show. After this I decided to take a look, because why not? Maybe I’d fall in love with it and afterwards purchase the camera.

So I began watching it and after one or two episodes I concluded that it’s an okay show. Don’t know if it lives up to the hype though; but I still have many episodes to go, so my opinion might change in the future.

It’s pretty stupid that the only reason I began watching the show is because I saw a cool camera themed after it.

In the evening I got called up by my friend to hang out with him and a mutual friend of ours, we watched a couple of movies together and did some other fun things.

To be honest I have no idea what I ate for breakfast today. My dinner was some leftovers from the night before; Nothing special, still vegetarian though : ).

Sunday

Woke up at 10 am but didn’t get out of bed until 1 pm. I planned to go to the gym, but my lazy ass really wasn’t feeling it. After finally getting out of bed I ate some easy breakfast.

I just threw some cereals in a bowl and added some milk. For everyone that puts milk in their bowl first, you are weird. I also drank some ice coffee since I really needed the caffeine.

Between breakfast and dinner I really didn’t do much, I spend some time on my computer. I ate dinner together with my mother and my younger brother, since the rest of the family was at work and my sister was at her boyfriend’s place. My mom prepared some mashed potatoes, cooked carrots and this pretty tasty vegan saté burger. Everything together tasted pretty good.

All done and said, im going to get some sleep. Goodnight!

I’ve been vegetarian for a week now

Woke up at around 11 o’clock today. For breakfast I had some musli with yogurt and blueberries in it. For lunch I had some bread with cheese on it. Didn’t do anything special today.

For dinner my mother bought some salads for us, we had a potato salad and a normal salad with lettuce and vegetables, and we ate some bread (baguettes) with it. 

I’m keeping todays blog short because I have nothing more to say and I have a feeling that all these blogs are pretty similar each day. Being vegetarian is still going fine. Today I will also add a few recipes of vegetarian dishes on the site so please have a look at those as well. See you tomorrow!

After a short 4 hour sleep, I woke up at 11 AM. I wanted to go for another gym session with one of my friends, but unfortunately I was way to tired to any type of active movement. I stayed in bed for another 3 hours unable to fall asleep.

When I finally decided I had tried for long enough to get some more sleep I went downstairs. I made some pretty decent breakfast for me, my younger brother and my father, it actually was their lunch since they did get out of bed at a reasonable time. I made some scrambled eggs with salt, pepper and some more spices. I put it on top of some toast with, in the oven melted, shredded cheese. It actually tasted phenomenal.

After my breakfast I went to one of my friend’s houses and played some video games there. Went home around 6 pm to eat dinner. My mother made some spinach stew with eggs and this vegetarian sausage. Everything tasted fine, but that vegetarian sausage was straight up disgusting. I mean no disrespect to the sausage, but that was horrible.

After dinner I watched some youtube videos, and was FaceTiming my friend. At midnight I got hungry and got some yogurt and muesli.

Right now I am going to try to get some decent sleep hours and hit the gym tomorrow. Goodnight.

A tiresome saturday

Today my crappy saturday was started by the excruciating sound of my alarm going off at 9 AM; with only having slept 6 hours I headed off to work after having devoured some crackers with cheese which, to my suprise, actually tasted pretty decent.

I had a torturous seven-hour shift at work.

I returned from work all happy because I had the rest of the day to myself. After work I ate some lunch and headed up to my room. 5 hours later I awoke from a nap I didn’t knew I was having; I’d accidentally fallen asleep and my whole ”free” rest of the day was spent on a nap which wasn’t even that good to begin with. I woke up at around 9 PM and of course that meant that I wasn’t going to be able to sleep until at least around 4 AM, screwing up my sleep schedule even more. Shortly said: GoSh ThE DaY WaS So MuCH FuN!!1!

Sidenote: Although being a vegetarian seems to go quite smoothly I am aware that there are a lot of slippery slopes which can lead me into ingesting something which has a trace of something originating from a dead animal in it. I heard somewhere that gelatin wasn’t vegetarian since it’s somehow derived from the collagen inside animals’ skin and bones.

All these things that seem to be totally vegetarian-friendly turning out to be the opposite makes me paranoid about me accidentally ingesting something which is laced with a byproduct of the meat industry; which wouldn’t necessarily hurt our main goal of reducing the meat industry’s carbon emissions since very much of these byproducts require very little of the animal itself to produce. But still, as someone who is also participating in this challenge as a result of his compassion for animals, it still kinda sucks.

A vegetarian Saturday

Woke up at around 8 AM today and I started the day by making myself some breakfast. I had bread (very surprising of course) with peanut butter on it and after that I quickly headed off to work. 

I also had sandwiches for lunch because I was still at work and that was the thing that had brought with me for lunch. After I got home from work, me and my family went to Nijmegen to visit my grandparents because it is my grandmother’s birthday today. We also had dinner there and they had some fries with some different kind of fried snacks which mainly contains meat, but I didn’t eat those of course so I only had fries.

I am still managing to keep eating vegetarian easily. So I have nothing more important to say. We just got home and it is pretty late already  so I am going to bed now. Bye.

Creative title.

Today seemed to be a relatively short day so I don’t have much news to add to my blog.

I woke up at around 3 PM because of my abhorrent sleep schedule, I’m not proud of it. Before I went to sleep the day before -or actually the same day- I’d saved a link to a youtube video which showcased how to make a Korean type breakfast. It seemed tasty and since that I don’t have many other things happening in my boring life I thought: ”Heck, why not try it?”. So that’s what I did; After I’d woken up -eventhough breakfast and lunchtime being LONG overdue- I was driven into making myself a ”Korean style breakfast”. It was 2 fried eggs with salt and pepper on top of a bowl of rice with a tiny amount of butter added followed by 2 tablespoons of soy sauce. It tasted alright, it wasn’t bad; I might add the recipe to the blog sometime if I’m ever out of ideas.

Following my ”breakfast” I spent an hour doing -god knows what and after that I headed off to work. Work was boring as usual but I did get a little bit internally annoyed when like 8 Poles showed up out of nowhere at closing time; we were all inattentive towards the entrance so we didn’t notice them going into the store and after we’d locked the doors we discovered like a dozen people still being inside, lol. We closed around 25 minutes later which is pretty unusual for the place I work at.

After work I was as tired as one could be and after previously having declined an offer to hang out with 2 of my friends I got called up by them and lacking the social nerve to say ”no” I went out with them regardlessly; it turned out to be a fun time. 3 hours later I returned back home and did a little discording with Luca before heading off to bed.

For dinner I had an outstandingly good meal consisting of, penne, cheese, spinach and mushrooms.

Day-Five

Got my ass out of bed at 2 pm. I really need a “normal” sleep schedule. I again didn’t really do much today, just like the passed 4 days. I feel like this whole vegetarian thing is going by a little too easy. I hope I didn’t accidentally engulf any sort of meat. I kind of want to succeed at this whole project, since I am pretty much a failure at life.

I didn’t eat anything for breakfast nor did I eat anything for lunch. I did go to the supermarket to get my self an afternoon snack though. I got myself a vegetarian salad from the store’s own brand. I bought it at the Albert Heijn. it was a green salad with cheese and hummus. It tasted alright, but normally I prefer the one with chicken.

For dinner we got some French fries from a local fast food restaurant. With this meal I didn’t have to change anything, since the fries are always fried in a vegetarian oil. I also always have preferred the vegetarian snacks, and sauces.

I am starving right now so I am going to eat some shredded cheese and head of to bed.

Survived day 5

I woke up pretty early this morning, at around 8 AM. I didn’t want to stay in bed any longer so I got up and decided to do some jogging this morning. Because I want to improve my condition, I thought this would be a great moment to get moving. After my run, I decided to make myself some breakfast. I had bread and a croissant. 

For lunch I ate some of the leftovers we had from yesterday’s dinner, the couscous salad, it still tasted as delicious as yesterday. Hadn’t planned to do anything special today so I decided to watch some Netflix.

For dinner, my mother made another pasta. It was almost the same as the one I had a few days ago only this time she added a few other ingredients to it.

I have again survived another day without eating meat and it is still going smoothly. Im going to sleep now cause it is getting pretty late. Goodnight.

I actually showed up this time

Today I was woken up by my alarm clock at 1 PM, I know that that’s super late and that you’re wondering why someone would ever set an alarm for 1 PM to wake up, but I had only gone to bed at 4 AM and I’d made plans to workout with Luca -and y’know, actually show up this time.

I started the day with a milkshake my dad made for me, sweet guy. I didn’t make it myself so honestly I have no clue what he could’ve possibly put in it but I remember it tasting like blueberries so there’s that. Before heading to the gym I wanted to make myself a protein shake but I found myself being too lazy to put the prescribed measurement of the powder in the shaker cup and adding a precise amount of milk so I just ended up jamming a spoon or two of the substance into a glass and filling it with milk while stirring. Took it down in one gulp :D.

I headed over to the gym where I met Luca and a mutual friend of ours. We worked out for around 70 minutes mainly focussing on the biceps and triceps and then I went off to go prepare myself for my lousy part-time job. If you’re wondering which workout plan I’m following; It’s Brad Pitt’s workout which he used to get in shape to play Tyler Durden in Fight club (which may be my favourite film of all time), because come on, who doesn’t want to look like Brad Pitt.

After the 3 hours of hell I spent at my job I headed home to eat some of the same spaghetti I’ve mentioned like 8 times already. It still tasted great but I can’t keep eating the same thing over and over again because I’m gradually getting sick of it. I’m beginning to wonder if my dad even knows any other vegetarian recipes.

Later I went up to my room to play some Counter Strike with Mika and after that I began updating my blog, and now we’re here.
